Why In-House Delivery and Installation Matters When Choosing an Adjustable Bed
Buying an adjustable bed, hi-lo bed, mattress or bedroom solution is a significant decision.
For many customers, the bed is not just furniture. It may support comfort, mobility, independence, care at home, NDIS needs, Support at Home services, or recovery after illness or injury.
That is why delivery and installation matter.
At Life Changing Beds, we do not believe the service should stop once the sale is made. We have our own two-person in-house delivery and installation team who specialise in delivering, setting up and explaining our products properly.
Our delivery team are not subcontractors. They are part of the Life Changing Beds team, with product knowledge, training and experience in the homes, facilities and situations our clients live in every day.
Why Our In-House Delivery Team Makes a Difference
Many adjustable beds, hi-lo beds and specialist mattresses require more care than a standard furniture delivery.
These products may be heavy, technical, motorised, customised or used by people with complex needs. They may also need to be installed in homes where access is not simple.
This could include:
• Double storey homes
• Apartments
• Townhouses
• Retirement villages
• Nursing homes
• Supported accommodation
• Smaller homes
• Homes with stairs, lifts or narrow entries
• Regional and rural properties
Because our delivery team is our own team, we can provide a more flexible and personal service. We are not limited by a third-party contractor deciding which homes they will or will not enter.
Our approach is simple: we assess the situation, plan carefully and do the work properly.
Why In-House Staff Are Better Than Subcontractors
One of the biggest differences between Life Changing Beds and many standard delivery services is that we use our own in-house team.
Subcontracted delivery teams can be very strict about the properties they will enter. Some may avoid apartments, upstairs deliveries, difficult access homes, townhouses, nursing facilities or properties outside certain areas. This can make purchasing difficult for clients who already feel stressed about access, mobility, stairs, lifts or room layout.
Our in-house team is different.
We service a wide range of properties across Victoria, including Melbourne, regional areas and rural locations. Whether the delivery is to a double storey home, apartment complex, townhouse, nursing home facility, retirement village or private residence, our team will work with the client to find the best way forward.
Location does not stop us from helping. We travel across Victoria for deliveries, installations, servicing and post-delivery support.
This matters because our clients are often purchasing products that support health, comfort, mobility and independence. They should not be left worrying about whether a delivery driver will enter the property, carry items upstairs, remove packaging, or explain how the bed works.
With subcontractors, the service can often be limited. They may only deliver the item to the property. They may not install the product, remove packaging, recycle old items, explain the remote, answer product questions, or provide any real aftercare. In many cases, subcontractors have little or no experience with the product itself.
Our in-house team provides a much higher level of service because they understand the products, the clients and the standards we expect as a company.
A White Glove Service From Start to Finish
Our delivery service is designed to make the process as smooth as possible.
A usual Life Changing Beds delivery includes:
• Bringing the products into the home
• Removing the old mattress or base where arranged
• Preparing the bedroom
• Vacuuming the room
• Wiping down the wall or surrounding area where needed
• Installing the base and mattress
• Removing packaging materials
• Making the bed with new sheets and protectors where arranged
• Completing a full product handover
• Explaining how the bed and remote work
• Answering questions on the day
• Ensuring the client feels confident before we leave
This is especially important for elderly clients, people with reduced mobility, NDIS participants, Support at Home clients and families arranging a bed for a loved one.
Our aim is for the client to feel supported from the moment we arrive to the moment the bed is ready to use.
No Need to Stress About Accessibility
Many clients worry about access before delivery.
They may wonder whether the bed will fit through the front door, up the stairs, into a lift, through a hallway, around a tight corner or into a smaller bedroom.
This is completely understandable.
Our team can help assess the details before delivery and work through what is required. Where needed, we can discuss access points, stairs, lifts, room size, parking, existing furniture and whether anything needs to be moved or prepared.
The client does not need to manage it all alone.
We have completed many complex deliveries over the years, including beds delivered into small homes, apartments, townhouses, multi-level homes and even boats. We have walked beds up flights of stairs, worked around stair climbers, used lifts, arranged cranes where required and removed windows in suitable situations to help get products safely into place.
No job is too hard for us to approach with care, planning and practical problem-solving.
Product Knowledge on the Day
One of the biggest advantages of using our own delivery team is product knowledge.
Our team does not simply drop off a box and leave. They understand our bases, mattresses, remotes, functions and accessories.
This means they can complete a proper handover on the day of delivery.
They can explain:
• How to use the remote
• How to return the bed to flat
• How to use adjustable functions
• How hi-lo height adjustment works
• How to use massage or memory settings where included
• How to care for the mattress
• How to use protectors or bedding
• What to do if the client has questions later
This is very different from a standard subcontracted delivery, where the driver may have no product training and no ability to answer questions.
For clients using their bed for comfort, independence, mobility or care needs, a proper handover can make a significant difference.
Training, Safety and Professional Standards
Our in-home staff are trained to support the type of work they do.
This includes relevant insurance, manual labour training, product training, servicing and maintenance training, and NDIS module training. Our team also holds valid police checks and immunisation checks where required.
This matters because our delivery team often works in private homes, aged care environments, disability support settings and care facilities.
Clients and families need to know that the people entering their home are experienced, respectful and prepared.
Our team understands that we are not just delivering furniture. We are entering someone’s personal space, often at an important or sensitive time in their life.
That trust matters to us.
Servicing Support After Delivery
Our in-house service does not end once the bed is installed.
Because we understand the products we deliver, we can also assist with servicing and maintenance support after delivery.
This is especially important for adjustable beds, hi-lo beds and motorised systems, where clients may need support over time.
For clients in regional or rural Victoria, this can provide extra peace of mind. We do not only deliver and disappear. We can continue to support the product after it has been installed.
Reflecting Our Values as a Family Business
As a family-owned business, our in-home team reflects the way we want every client to be treated.
We value kindness, respect, patience and practical support. We understand that every home is different and every client’s situation is different.
Some clients are confident and simply want their new bed installed. Others may be nervous, overwhelmed, unwell, recovering from surgery, living with disability, or helping an ageing parent transition to a safer bedroom setup.
Our role is to make the process easier.
That means being personable, friendly, respectful and willing to help wherever we can.
Nothing is too hard or too inconvenient for us to consider. We would rather take the time to do the job properly than leave a client feeling unsupported.
